Synopsis: Sophie wants one thing for Christmas-a little freedom from her overprotective parents. So when they decide to spend Christmas in South Louisiana with her very pregnant older sister, Sophie is looking forward to some much needed private (read: make-out) time with her long-term boyfriend, Griffin. Except it turns out that Griffin wants a little freedom from their relationship.

Heartbroken, Sophie flees to her grandparents’ house, where the rest of her boisterous extended family is gathered for the holiday. That’s when her nonna devises a (not so) brilliant plan: Over the next ten days, Sophie will be set up on ten different blind dates by different family members. Like her sweet cousin Sara, who sets her up with a hot guy at an exclusive underground party. Or her crazy aunt Patrice, who signs Sophie up for a lead role in a living nativity. With a boy who barely reaches her shoulder. And a screaming baby.

When Griffin turns up unexpectedly and begs for a second chance, Sophie feels more confused than ever. Because maybe, just maybe, she’s started to have feelings for someone else . . . Someone who is definitely not available.

This is going to be the worst Christmas break ever . . . or is it?

My thoughts

This was a completely adorable read! The story follows along with Sophie as her boyfriend dumps her right before Christmas break. Despite her heartbreak, Sophie maintains her plan of going to stay with her grandparents for the break.

“I hate to call Nonna a liar, but it’s tomorrow and everything still pretty much sucks.”

When her Nonna devises a plan to help with Sophie’s heartbreak, Sophie is absolutely regretting coming. But then her Nonna’s plan starts to come around on her and she agrees to the crazy thing. 10 blind dates over the course of the break all picked out by different family members. What could go wrong??

“I don’t expect to meet the love of my life but maybe, just maybe this will help heal the pieces Griffin broke.”

Sophies family is huge and all very close to each other. Her blind dates become a big ol’ family event which I thought was hilarious. Her dates ranged from actually pretty decent, to oh my god get me the heck out of here. I was laughing out loud multiple times throughout this. It was a very sweet, charming, humorous read! Recommended for fans of YA Contemporary, romantic comedies, books that make you smile and feel good inside, and books that focus on family, friendship, and self-discovery.
